Jan. 1, 1975: The Buckeyes were ranked No. 2 heading into their third straight Rose Bowl matchup with the Trojans. If top-ranked Alabama were to be upset that night in the Orange Bowl by Notre Dame -- which it was -- Ohio State would have at least a share of a national title with a win. But holding a 17-10 lead late in the fourth quarter, the Buckeyes surrendered an 83-yard TD drive, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Pat Haden to a diving Shelton Diggs with 2:03 left. No. 4 USC wound up with a share of the title, not OSU.
