Northwestern entered its 1995 home game against Penn State at 7-1 and ranked No. 6, yet no one outside Evanston believed in the ne'er-do-well Wildcats. Northwestern took its first possession 73 yards in 12 plays, the last one a 2-yard touchdown run by Darnell Autry. He scored twice more in the 21-10 victory as it became clear Gary Barnett really would take the Purple to Pasadena.
