No. 3 Nebraska (10-1) had won two straight national titles. Texas (7-4) barely made it to the first Big 12 Championship Game. What did the Horns have to lose? Texas, leading 30-27 late in the fourth quarter, had a fourth-and-inches at its own 28. Coach John Mackovic called Steeler Roll Left. James Brown rolled left and threw a strike to tight end Derek Lewis, who rumbled for a 61-yard gain. Texas 37, Nebraska 27.
