As football season nears, ESPN Recruiting is looking at where the five top states for recruiting -- California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio and Texas -- stand heading into the season.

There are seven ESPN 300 prospects from Ohio in the 2018 class, four of which are ranked in the top 150. Five-star offensive lineman Jackson Carman is the highest ranked at No. 11 overall. Carman is currently uncommitted, as are defensive ends Leonard Taylor and Tyreke Smith, and receiver L'Christian Smith.
