Asked Louisville coach Bobby Petrino whether Lamar Jackson deserves to be in New York for the Heisman ceremony: "I think he does for sure. I can't imagine there's a better player in the country than Lamar Jackson, his ability to throw the football, run the football. I know we had our struggles, but it wasn't his play. He was playing great and doing everything he could."

Minkah Fitzpatrick sizes up Auburn's offensive philosophy succinctly (and correctly): "They love to run the ball, run the ball, run the ball and then takes shots over the top." Alabama's star DB will play a big role in both run and pass defense in the Iron Bowl on Saturday.

It was easy to overlook Alabama's 56-0 beatdown of Mercer last Saturday, but it was an important game in terms of Dylan Moses gaining valuable experience as he takes over at inside linebacker for Shaun Dion Hamilton, who suffered a season-ending injury three weeks ago. The true freshman led the team with 11 tackles. "I think he did a good job," Saban said of Moses. "I really do. He was well prepared and played with confidence. ... He made a lot of plays in the game and played fast and hopefully that will carry over."
