Highly-touted freshman linebacker Mique Juarez continues to be excused from UCLA practice. He has not practiced with the team for more than two weeks and coach Jim Mora said he's getting the help he needs to deal with some personal issues. Juarez, the No. 30 overall recruit in the Class of 2016, will not play against Texas A&M.

UCLA coach Jim Mora provided an injury update after practice Monday. Most notable: DL Deon Hollins and FB Cameron Griffin are doubtful to play against Texas A&M while still dealing with concussion-like symptoms. Mora wouldn't completely rule them out.

LSU's Leonard Fournette and Jamal Adams have been talking about winning a championship since playing together at the Under Armour All-America Game in 2014. Entering their junior -- and probably final, since both players are projected first-round picks if they enter the 2017 NFL draft -- college season, they lead what should be the best Tigers team since 2011. Fournette, by the way, says his sprained ankle has fully recovered and he's good to go for Saturday's game against Wisconsin after taking it easy in his return to practice last week.

Texas did not release a depth chart and did not name a starting quarterback today. Charlie Strong says he's trying to give Notre Dame as little info as possible. We'll see if that extra secrecy pays off on Sunday night.

"Incredible, incredible baseball player," Meyer said reflecting on watching him in high school. " ... I'm very biased and everybody knows that, but don't count him out."

Stanford named Bobby Okereke as a first-time starter at inside linebacker. "He's had the best camp of all our inside linebackers, and that's saying something," David Shaw said. The Cardinal plan to rotate 4-5 players through two inside linebacker spots.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher isn't sure whether a tough opener helps or hurts in the playoff era but he thinks about it a lot. He said scheduling is about money and exposure some, but it should primarily about "what [schedule] gets me to the playoff and national championship game."

There isn't much clarity in the secondary in Florida State's depth chart for Ole Miss. The Seminoles have a lot of blue-chip defensive backs, but they're looking to find the right combination. The biggest battle is at cornerback between sophomores Marcus Lewis and Tarvarus McFadden.
