Duke Johnson rehabbing ankle

Miami running back Duke Johnson likely will miss spring practice as he continues to recover from a fractured ankle.

"I'm really excited in the progress I've made, and everyone else [at UM] is excited, too," Johnson told The Miami Herald on Sunday. "... I don't believe I will [practice this spring]. But if anything changes, you'll see. But I don't really think so."

Johnson, who suffered the injury against Florida State on Nov. 2, still thinks he'll be back for fall practice and will be cleared to work out in "two months, a month-and-a-half -- around that range."

The sophomore rushed for 920 yards -- with an average of 6.3 yards per carry -- and had six TDs in eight games during the 2013 season.
