Georgia Tech announced late Friday afternoon that Tulane had opted out of its four-game agreement to play the Yellow Jackets.
Tulane feared it would be unable to host the 2014 game because construction on its new $55 million stadium may not be done in time. Given those concerns, the game was moved to a different site.
Tulane announced late Friday night that the cancellation was "premature," saying that it anticipates "a competitive and exciting series" with Georgia Tech.
"University officials have been in continuous conversations about the game, and today's earlier communication about canceling it and the remainder of the four-game series was issued prematurely," Tulane's statement said. "Both universities are looking forward to a competitive and exciting series."
