Isaac Griffith out of hospital

Indiana receiver Isaac Griffith was released from the hospital Sunday as he continues to recover from a swimming accident early last week in Florida in which he nearly drowned.

The school said in a statement that Griffith "continues to improve" and would be heading back to Indiana with his family shortly.

Griffith's father, Shannon, tweeted Sunday afternoon about his son's discharge.

Mitch McCune and Ty Smith, a safety for the Hoosiers, pulled Griffith to shore and McCune performed CPR before paramedics arrived. Griffith was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition and put in a medically induced coma.

Griffith, who grew up in Fort Wayne, Ind., redshirted during the 2013 season.
