The Cactus Bowl will serve as the new name of the bowl game played in Tempe, Ariz., the Valley of the Sun Bowl Foundation announced Thursday.
The last two seasons it was known as the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and was tied to Insight the 15 years before that.
The game will take place on Jan. 2 and pair the sixth pick from the Pac-12 and the fifth pick from the Big 12 after the College Football Playoff teams are selected. It will be shown on ESPN.
"Our new name represents an iconic symbol for the state of Arizona," said Mike Nealy, the bowl's executive director. "The name will also resonate with the thousands of fans traveling to the Southwest to experience our great bowl game and unmatched hospitality."
The bowl was originally founded in 1989 as the Copper Bowl and is played at Sun Devil Stadium, the home of Arizona State.
