Oregon's 59-20 win in the The Rose Bowl Game Presented By Northwestern Mutual was worth $25,000 to coach Mark Helfrich with the opportunity to make $250,000 more should the Ducks win the national title.
Helfrich already has hit bonuses worth $460,000 this season. His team won the Pac-12 North ($50,000) and the Pac-12 title game ($150,000) and is guaranteed to have a final AP ranking in the top 10 ($60,000).
Helfrich received $175,000 for getting into the playoff, but he will get $25,000 more since the bonus for playing in the title game is $200,000. His contract notes that bowl game participation is not cumulative, meaning he will receive the $200,000 instead of the $175,000 and not both.
Helfrich, who makes $2 million in salary this year, was the lowest salaried coach of the four left in the playoff. He will make an additional $250,000 if the Ducks can win it all in Dallas on Jan. 12.
