Texas State announced that redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Will Trevillion has died. He was 20.
Trevillion was pronounced dead at 1:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Hays County Precinct 2 justice of the peace Beth Smith told the San Marcos Mercury.
A cause for Trevillion's death is not yet known, though no foul play is suspected and an autopsy has been ordered, Smith told the San Marcos Mercury.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with friends and family of Will Trevillion. The world lost an amazing young man today," the school said in a statement released on the football team's Twitter account. "The outpouring of love and support for the Trevillion family is incredible. More information to come in the following days."
Everett Withers, who will be introduced as the team's new coach on Thursday, also tweeted out his respects:
Trevillion, a native of Buda, Texas, had three tackles in five games for Texas State in 2015. He played in nine games in 2014, recording nine tackles.
