Miami receiver Ahmmon Richards is unlikely to play in the season opener against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday with a hamstring injury, coach Mark Richt said Wednesday.
Richards, the team's leading returning receiver, pulled his hamstring several weeks ago during preseason camp and recently resumed jogging and cutting as part of his rehab.
He hasn't practiced all week. "It's very unlikely he'll play in this first game," Richt said.
Richards had 49 receptions for 934 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman a year ago.
