Miami's Ramon Buchanan lost for year

Miami senior linebacker Ramon Buchanan suffered a season-ending injury in the first quarter of Saturday's victory over Bethune-Cookman, the school announced on Monday.

Buchanan started the first four games and had 18 tackles, including two totaling five yards lost. Buchanan blocked a field goal against Kansas State, marking the first blocked kick by Miami since 2004.

Buchanan had 16 career starts for the Hurricanes.

Senior Jordan Futch and true freshman Denzel Perryman filled in for Buchanan in the 45-14 win over Bethune-Cookman. Perryman finished with a career-high seven tackles.

The Hurricanes (2-2) travel to No. 21 Virginia Tech (4-1, 0-1 ACC) on Saturday for a game with implications on the Coastal Division standings.
