Penn State reserve running back Brandon Beachum underwent season-ending surgery Monday for a broken left ankle.
Beachum suffered the injury late in Saturday's 45-7 loss to Wisconsin. Penn State team doctor Wayne Sebastianelli expects Beachum's rehabilitation to take 4-6 months.
Beachum tore the ACL in his right knee late in the 2009 season and missed all of the 2010 campaign while rehabbing the knee. He appeared in seven games this season and ranked fourth on the team with 134 rushing yards on 34 carries.
Beachum has one year of eligibility remaining but won't return in 2012 as a fifth-year senior. He's scheduled to graduate in December with a degree in advertising/public relations. Beachum finishes his Penn State career with 361 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 86 carries.
