BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Wisconsin running back Montee Ball has passed 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams for second place on the career touchdown list.
Ball now has 77 career scores with three through the first three quarters of Saturday's game against Indiana. Williams finished his career at Texas with 75. Travis Prentice of Miami (Ohio) holds the FBS record with 78 scores.
Ball, a Badgers senior, wasted no time getting started Saturday at Indiana.
On third-and-2 in the first quarter, Ball rushed 21 yards up the middle. On the next play, he turned the corner and jogged in for a 10-yard TD run, No. 75, to give the Badgers a 7-0 lead.
He did it again on the opening possession for the Badgers in the second half, moving into second on the all-time list with a 1-yard plunge to make it 31-7.
Ball then made it 38-7 later in the third quarter with a 49-yard scoring rush.
