The UCF Knights will be wearing themed uniforms this week vs. East Carolina in honor of space exploration.
The uniforms feature star systems as a stripe on the helmet along with moon-like craters in the UCF logo on the helmet. The uniforms also have a patch honoring space exploration.
It may seem random that the UCF Knights would chose to represent space exploration, but there is some background context to this decision.
As written on their website:
"The University of Central Florida was founded in 1963 as Florida Technological University, with the mission of supporting the growing United States space program at nearby Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Its motto, 'Reach for the Stars,' represented the university's promising aerospace education in engineering, electronics and other technological professions."
The background context makes the uniforms that much more dope.
We're all for it.
