2-5, 6th in Pac 12 - South

Another difference from Stanford's previous midseason QB change: According to David Shaw, Keller Chryst has a much more expanded knowledge of the playbook now than Kevin Hogan had then. He gave no indication that Stanford might simplify its playbook like it did in 2012.

David Shaw told me that this is the first time all year Stanford has known Christian McCaffrey and Bryce Love are fully healthy early in the week. Because of that, the Cardinal should be able to utilize both in tandem more against Arizona.

Why the Pac-12 is still the land of quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson reside in the ACC while the Big Ten and Big 12 have great signal callers too. But no conference has a deeper group under center than the Pac-12.

Coaches who might cost too much to fire

Sometimes, nothing can save a coach from being fired. But other times, a buyout of millions or tens of millions of dollars might just buy a coach a little extra time.

Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez isn't saying who will start at quarterback against Stanford on Saturday, but he's happy that he finally has some options, as both two-year starter Anu Solomon and his backup Brandon Dawkins should be available to play. Solomon started the opener against BYU, but then suffered a knee injury in practice. Dawkins started the next five games before suffering a concussion against Utah on Oct. 8, forcing true freshman Khalil Tate into action against USC. The Wildcats were off last weekend. Rodriguez intimated that both Solomon and Dawkins are likely to play. "They've been able to practice fully this week," Rodriguez said. Arizona also has been hit hard by injuries at running back, as starter Nick Wilson apparently will be out for some time due to a knee injury. Receiver Samajie Grant has moved to running back and is listed as a co-starter with Zach Green.

Coaching winners and losers from Week 7

Georgia chose to hire an unproven head coach, former Alabama assistant Kirby Smart, and Saturday's home loss to Vanderbilt raises questions about whether it was the right move.

Darnold, Smith-Schuster power USC past Arizona (0:41)

Kyle Bonagura ESPN Staff Writer

How bad is Arizona's quarterback situation? How about this: reserve tight end Matt Morin has entered the game in relief of Khalil Tate.

USC receiver Juju Smith-Schuster left late in the third quarter against Arizona due to an apparent injury to his back. He was down for several minutes and walked gingerly to the locker room.

USC junior WR JuJu Smith-Schuster had two first-half touchdown receptions, which gives him his third multi-touchdown game of the season and sixth of his career.

Arizona freshman QB Khalil Tate struggled mightily in the first half against USC. He had more turnovers (one INT, one fumble) than completed passes (1) and the Wildcats converted just once on five third-down attempts.

Kyle Bonagura ESPN Staff Writer

The 34 points USC scored in the first half against Arizona (34-7) are the most it has scored in a half this year and fourth time it has scored five touchdowns in a half in a conference game since the start of the 2013 season.

Kyle Bonagura ESPN Staff Writer

USC quarterback Sam Darnold has been a magician on third down. The Trojans are 5 of 6 on third down and had a few big conversion on their last drive, which ended in a touchdown pass to Deontay Burnett to put USC up 14-7.
