Oregon State made a jump from 2-10 to 4-8 last season, but needs some improvement in several areas to make that next leap.

The inaugural Polynesian Bowl provided a big boost to Pac-12 recruiting Saturday night, as six prospects announced commitments during the game and five pledged to Pac-12 programs. Oregon was the big winner in the conference, landing four-star linebacker Isaac Slade-Matautia and three-star defensive tackle Austin Faoliu. USC received a commitment from three-star defensive tackle Brandon Pili. Oregon State picked up cornerback Charles Watson and Stanford added three-star linebacker Levani Damuni to its impressive class. The highest rated prospect to commit was ESPN 300 defensive end Langi Tuifua, who committed to BYU.

It was a huge day for the Pac-12 on the recruiting trail, as the conference added five prospects during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The headliner was No. 12 overall prospect, offensive tackle Foster Sarell, who committed to Stanford. UCLA grabbed a commitment from No. 39 overall prospect, cornerback Darnay Holmes. Safety Bubba Bolden, the nation's No. 139 overall prospect, announced his commitment to USC. Arizona State landed running back Eno Benjamin, the nation's No. 280 prospect, while Oregon State received a commitment from three-star wide receiver Jamire Calvin.

Oregon State added a dynamic wide receiver to its recruiting class on Saturday, as Jamire Calvin announced his commitment during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The three-star receiver selected the Beavers over Nebraska, Notre Dame and Washington State and gives the Beavers their seventh wide receiver commitment in this class.

Oregon State hires Pitt's Barnes as new AD

Oregon State has lured Pittsburgh athletic director Scott Barnes west to take over the same job with the Beavers. The Spokane native spent just over 18 months with the Panthers.

What a week for Oregon State coach Gary Andersen. He gets a contract extension through 2021, and then the athletic director he wanted, Scott Barnes, makes the move to Corvallis from Pitt. Andersen and Barnes worked together at Utah State. Oregon State making a strong commitment to Andersen right now.
