Could Penn State be due for a letdown?

Penn State is riding high after the win over Ohio State. The Nittany Lions (-13) face Purdue next and may not be highly motivated. The Boilermakers played well in a loss to Nebraska after the firing of Darrell Hazell. Early Betting Look (Insider)

History repeated itself on Saturday

Penn State snapped then-second-ranked Ohio State's road win streak at 20 on Saturday. The last time an unranked Penn State team beat a top-two team was in 1964, when the 3-4 Nittany Lions won 27-0 over ... second-ranked Ohio State. Flipping the field

James Franklin's weekly Tuesday news conference will be moved to Wednesday this week because the Penn State coach is attending a family funeral. (His brother-in-law died of cancer last week.) Obviously been a very emotional week for the Nittany Lions' coach.

ESPN Junior 300 running back Ricky Slade was one of many prospects visiting Penn State on Saturday for its big win against Ohio State. Slade, the No. 27 ranked prospect in 2018, said the game and experience was something he hasn't yet seen on other visits. "It was the best atmosphere I've been in," Slade said. "It did help (Penn State) because it showed that they are making progress."

Drawing conclusions: Week 8's playoff impact

Our artist looks back at a fun Week 8, which featured a shocker at Penn State, another ho-hum romp by Alabama and another Heisman-worthy performance from Lamar Jackson.

How unlikely was the way Penn State beat Ohio State on Saturday night? According to ESPN stats & information, Penn State had been the only Power 5 team without a special teams touchdown over the last four seasons until the blocked field goal and return by Grant Haley. Other than offensive line, special teams took the biggest hit from the scholarship penalties so this is a good sign for Penn State's future.
