Vanderbilt's Mason gets three-year extension

After leading Vanderbilt to its first bowl game during his three-year tenure, coach Derek Mason has received a raise as part of a three-year contract extension.

Edward Aschoff ESPN Staff Writer

Derek Mason says senior WR CJ Duncan "showed up and showed out" this spring. He dosn't think teams accounted for him much last year but "he moved the chains for Vanderbilt." Compared his play to Anquan Boldin. Mason sees CJ being a legit go-to-guy for the Commodores at receiver this season

New Cardinals offensive lineman Will Holden said he didn't expect the Cardinals to draft him on Saturday since he had only met with Arizona at the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl. Arizona told Holden they have him slotted as a tackle, and Holden, who graduated from Vanderbilt in December, said during a conference call with Arizona reporters that he feels comfortable playing on both sides of the line, and will, if needed, compete for a guard position. He felt he's a unique player because he's a 6-foot-7 lineman who can bend.

The Cardinals first pick of the fifth round, tackle Will Holden, stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs in at 311 pounds. He has the size to compete for a starting job in the next couple years and could be considered the Cardinals' long-term answer at right tackle whenever Jared Veldheer's time in Arizona comes to an end. Holden is durable, having started 37 straight games for the Commodores.

The Cardinals select OT Will Holden from Vanderbilt with the 157th pick.
