New Cardinals offensive lineman Will Holden said he didn't expect the Cardinals to draft him on Saturday since he had only met with Arizona at the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl. Arizona told Holden they have him slotted as a tackle, and Holden, who graduated from Vanderbilt in December, said during a conference call with Arizona reporters that he feels comfortable playing on both sides of the line, and will, if needed, compete for a guard position. He felt he's a unique player because he's a 6-foot-7 lineman who can bend.

The Cardinals first pick of the fifth round, tackle Will Holden, stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs in at 311 pounds. He has the size to compete for a starting job in the next couple years and could be considered the Cardinals' long-term answer at right tackle whenever Jared Veldheer's time in Arizona comes to an end. Holden is durable, having started 37 straight games for the Commodores.

The Cardinals select OT Will Holden from Vanderbilt with the 157th pick.

Here are the Texans' picks so far through the first three rounds of the draft: 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson; 2. Zach Cunningham, ILB., Vanderbilt; 3. D'Onta Foreman, RB., Texas.

Bill O'Brien said he sees a lot of value in Zach Cunningham's versatility and ability to play both inside and outside.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

Bill O'Brien said he sees Zach Cunningham as a core special teams player who is very athletic and a productive tackler. He mentions Cunningham has to get a little bigger.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

I could see Zach Cunningham playing a lot on third down next season because the Texans already have two starters at inside linebacker -- Brian Cushing and Benardrick McKinney.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

Zach Cunnningham did not take a pre-draft visit with the Texans, so he said it was a huge surprise to get the phone call from Houston.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

The Texans said they will list Zach Cunningham as an outside linebacker, which makes a lot more sense. They fill a need after letting John Simon go in free agency.

Texans pick Zach Cunningham is the whole package

With great range and athleticism, the Vanderbilt product showed Mel Kiper Jr. enough on tape to be considered an elite talent moving into the NFL.

Sarah Barshop ESPN Staff Writer

With the No. 57 pick in the 2017 NFL draft, the Texans select linebacker Zack Cunningham out of Vanderbilt. He gives Houston depth at linebacker, but is not the position I expected to come off the board here.

ESPN Stats and Information

The SEC had 12 players taken in the first round Thursday night -- including nine from the West division alone -- tied for the most by any conference in the common draft era. The SEC has produced the most first-round picks in six of the past seven drafts.
