Marcus Mariota told KHON in Hawaii his brother, Oregon tight end Matt Mariota, has been a key piece of his rehabilitation. "He's been special for me, just because whether it was me throwing passes on a scooter or just hanging out he was always kind of there for me during this process. That relationship that I have with my brother is something that is pretty special. I'm excited for him as he continues his journey. They start spring ball soon. He's put a lot of good work, a lot of hard work into it and I hope it all works out for him."

Canadian pipeline adds to Oregon's recruiting plan

How did Oregon build its Final Four-bound team? Opening a Canadian pipeline with Dillon Brooks was a start. Then the Ducks started winning battles for the West Coast's best recruits.

Seven schools remain in the mix for Dorian Thompson-Robinson, the nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback. Thompson-Robinson released his list of seven finalists via twitter, as Cal, Florida State, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina and UCLA remain in the hunt to sign the No. 107 overall prospect and No. 2 uncommitted quarterback at this time. It looks like this could come down to a battle between Michigan and UCLA, as the Bruins established themselves early as the program to beat for Thompson-Robinson and his teammate, ESPN 300 tight end Brevin Jordan, while Thompson-Robinson's mother attended Michigan. Cal was not on his initial top-12 list, while Florida State and Oregon are programs to watch and could make a move.

Race for the North: Oregon

The defense has question marks, but Royce Freeman and an experienced offense have Oregon well-positioned to see a big improvement in 2017.

The 2018 class of prospects in Oregon is as strong as the state has been in years, but the Ducks and Beavers still seem to be fighting an uphill battle for in-state recruits. Oregon and Oregon State missed out on elite in-state defensive prospects Marlon Tuipulotu (signed with USC) and Elijah Molden (Washington) last year, and the Huskies again delivered a statement on Wednesday, grabbing a commitment from Oregon product Trey Lowe, who holds offers from Oregon and Oregon State. There are four ESPN JR 300 prospects in Oregon and they are becoming must-get prospects for the Ducks especially. Wide receiver Chase Cota is the son of former Duck great Chad Cota and linebacker Eli'Jah Winston is the younger brother of current Oregon linebacker La'Mar Winston.

ESPNJr300 OT Dawson Jaramillo (Lake Oswego, OR) said was offered by Louisville yesterday & visited UCLA unofficially yesterday as well. Took a trip to TCU last weekend & that visit made an impression as he said the Horned Frogs were the team standing out to him right now. Also hopes to get to Oregon & Washington this spring & Virginia when school lets out in June.
