It was a huge day for the Pac-12 on the recruiting trail, as the conference added five prospects during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The headliner was No. 12 overall prospect, offensive tackle Foster Sarell, who committed to Stanford. UCLA grabbed a commitment from No. 39 overall prospect, cornerback Darnay Holmes. Safety Bubba Bolden, the nation's No. 139 overall prospect, announced his commitment to USC. Arizona State landed running back Eno Benjamin, the nation's No. 280 prospect, while Oregon State received a commitment from three-star wide receiver Jamire Calvin.

R&K: Judging bowl games & Kiffin out at Bama

Is it fair to second guess the College Football Playoff after bowl season? Also, Kanell doesn't think Lane Kiffin's absence will impact Alabama plus Dilfer on NFL coaches.

Jeff Thomas is having himself a game. After scoring on an electrifying 44-yard touchdown catch in the first half, Thomas, the nation's No. 14 receiver from East St. Louis (Illinois) High School, just weaved his way through the entire defense on his way to a 79-yard touchdown reception early in the third quarter of the Under Armour All-America Game. It was a breathtaking catch and run, and it displayed the big-play ability that has Louisville, Illinois, Oregon and Miami trying to land his commitment. Thomas will visit Louisville on Jan. 13 and Illinois on Jan. 20 and he's working on dates with Oregon and potentially Miami.

At one point, Jeff Thomas had to be removed from his East St. Louis (Illinois) High School team because he "lost his way." But he came back more determined than ever as a senior, and the end result was one of the most electrifying touchdown catches in the Under Armour All-America Game history. Thomas, the 14th-ranked receiver that's considering Louisville, Illinois, Oregon and others, caught an out route from LSU quarterback commit Myles Brennan, broke a few tackles, and then turned on the jets to out-race several other defenders to the end zone. When he's focused like he is now, Thomas is easily one of the most deadly receivers in the 2017 class.

With UW's loss, the West's wait continues

Since USC's win over Oklahoma, the Trojans lost the following year while Oregon lost to Auburn in January 2011 and to Ohio State in the first CFP final in January 2015.

ESPN 300 tight end Josh Falo released what he called an "unofficial top list" on Wednesday. It featured Alabama, Colorado, Ohio State, Oregon and USC, though it would be somewhat surprising to see the nation's No. 158 prospect head outside the Pac-12. Falo has already taken an official visit to Colorado and will visit the Trojans and Ducks in January. USC will host Falo on Jan. 13, while Oregon will get a visit on Jan. 27. Falo is good friends with teammate Trajon Cotton and they have spoken about committing to the same school, which could seemingly eliminate USC. Falo's brother is a linebacker for the Buffaloes, which also could give Colorado an advantage in this battle.

Oregon DB commits Jaylon Redd and Thomas Graham during Day 1 of Under Armour All-America practice. Both ESPN 300 prospects represent huge recruiting wins for the Ducks as Southern California is full of standout defensive back prospects in the 2017 class and two of the best are headed to Eugene.

East St. Louis (Illinois) High receiver Jeff Thomas raised eyebrows last week when he tweeted Missouri and Alabama were no longer in his top group. "Both are great schools, but they're just not recruting me strong enough." Thomas, the nation's 88th-ranked player, said Illinois, Miami, Oregon and Louisville have been recruting him strongly, though. Thomas said he'll visit Louisville on Jan. 13, Illinois on Jan. 20 and is working on a date with Oregon.

Four-star linebacker Ellis Brooks of Richmond (Va.) Benedictine College Prep plans on having a busy January. The 6-2, 230-pounder will take official visits to Northwestern on Jan. 13, Oregon on Jan. 20 and Notre Dame on Jan. 28. He said he's also trying to keep some time open "in case some schools like what they see this week." Brooks was formerly committed to Duke.
