Purdue escapes with a 24-14 victory against Nevada. Wolf Pack kicker Brent Zuzo missed a 27-yard field goal in the final minutes with a chance to tie. Boilermakers running back Markell Jones scored the go-ahead five-yard touchdown, and quarterback David Blough sealed the win with a 51-yard TD pass to Brycen Hopkins. Big way for Purdue (2-1) to enter Big Ten play, with road games against Maryland and Illinois next.

Purdue quarterback David Blough found a measure of redemption when he connected on a 48-yard touchdown pass to bring the Boilermakers within 14-10 of Nevada at halftime. Earlier in the game, Blough threw an interception near the goal line. This performance at home by Purdue thus far has to be discouraging. The Boilermakers have out-gained the Wolf Pack 239-122 but have three total turnovers.

Nevada extends lead over Purdue

Watch: Nevada at Purdue

Purdue is a six-point favorite coming off a bye week and a loss to Cincinnati two weeks ago. ESPN's FPI gives the Boilermakers a 74.5 percent chance to win at home. Live on ESPNews/WatchESPN

If Purdue wants to have any real shot at playing in a bowl game this season, it would seem the Boilermakers have to beat Nevada today. Purdue hasn't started 2-1 during Darrell Hazell's tenure, and the Big Ten schedule will be difficult. QB David Blough threw five interceptions last week and needs to show more consistency despite putting up big passing yardage numbers.

Big game for the Boilermakers today as they'll be without both starting tackles on their offensive line. QB David Blaugh threw 5 INT in their last game, so protection will be a concern against Nevada at 12 ET on ESPNews.

Florida coach Jim McElwain when asked his thoughts about 2 SEC teams (the Gators and LSU) starting former Purdue QBs (Florida's Austin Appleby and LSU'a Danny Etling). "That's some good trivia. I love useless information."

If No. 19 Ole Miss defeats No. 1 Alabama on Saturday, the Rebels will become the first team to beat Nick Saban a third straight time since Purdue did so in 1999.

Whose coaching hot seat is the hottest?

It's just Week 3, but some coaches are feeling the heat. Look no further than the SEC, where there's a buzz around LSU's Les Miles and the Texas A&M-Auburn game could be called the Hot Seat bowl.
