BYU tight end Moroni Laulu-Pututau has announced that he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Cougars' loss at Washington on Saturday. In a tweet posted Sunday night, Laulu-Pututau confirmed what many suspected after he left the game during the first series of BYU's 35-7 loss. “I have torn my ACL and will be needing surgery,” he wrote. “It hurts so much more emotionally and mentally than it does physically but I won't be returning [until] the 2019 season." The 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior ranks second on the team in receptions (14) and receiving yards (120). This is Laulu-Pututau's second season-ending injury in as many years: a preseason Lisfranc foot injury kept him out for all of the 2017 season.
Jake Browning completed 23 of 25 passes for 277 yards and one touchdown, and No. 11 Washington was thoroughly dominant on both sides in a 35-7 rout of No. 20 BYU on Saturday night.
