Texas Tech QB Nic Shimonek was crisp in his first career start replacing first round draft pick Patrick Mahomes. In the 56-10 win over Eastern Washington, Shimonek completed his first 14 passes, coming one shy of a Tech record. He finished with 384 yards and 3 TDs.

OLB Samson Ebukam said rushing the passer is "what I do best." On his Eastern Washington teammate, WR Cooper Kupp, also getting drafted by the Rams: "I was just happy for him because he deserves it. When he got picked by them I was like, 'Yeah, that's the perfect team.' Then I thought to myself, 'What are the chances I get picked by the same team?' And it just happened and I was like, 'Woah, Eagles really do stick together.' That's awesome."

The Rams gave up their second fourth-round pick, 141st overall, and the 13th pick of the sixth round to draft Samson Ebukam at 125 overall. Outside linebacker; 6-3, 240. Good speed, explosiveness and football IQ, but still needs to develop, according to draft reports. Rams need more linebackers now that they're converting to a 3-4 system under Wade Phillips.

The Rams traded up from 141 to 125 with the Jets and selected LB Samson Ebukam, teammate of Cooper Kupp at Eastern Washington.

New Rams WR Cooper Kupp told local reporters he brings "versatility; a guy who's going to know the offense in and out and who's going to be ready to go Day 1." Asked about facing inferior competition at Eastern Washington, Kupp said: "People want to question that, that's fine. I'm going to go out and do what I do. And I believe that opinion will change soon."

WR Cooper Kupp had an excellent week at the Senior Bowl workouts. Route running, catch radius and the ability to make some plays in traffic. Kupp doesn't have great top-end speed on the stopwatch (4.62 40), but he has the skill set to win on inside breaking routes. Another target for QB Jared Goff after the Rams drafted TE Gerald Everett in the second round.

Another pass catcher for the Rams. With the 69th overall pick, they take WR Cooper Kupp out of Eastern Washington. 6-2, 204. He broke 15 FCS records in college, finishing with 428 catches for 6,464 yards and 73 touchdowns for his career. Possession receiver, though he didn't test great at the combine.

Unofficial 4.62/4.66 40 times for WR Cooper Kupp. Slower times than I expected after watching Kupp during Senior Bowl practices. He played at a much faster speed on the field and had a very productive week running routes in Mobile. Kupp showed the ability to separate at the break and finish plays. However, WR is a "stopwatch position" at the Combine. And the 40 time does factor into the evaluation process.

Senior Bowl: WR Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington) has been one of the most productive receivers this week during practice. Kupp has solid top-end speed and route running ability. Very consistent catching the football in both 7-on-7 and team period. Has a really good feel for finding open windows in zone coverage.
