Buffs have 50-50 chance at Stanford

At the start of the season, ESPN's FPI favored Stanford by about two TDs in this game vs. Colorado. After a 5-2 start by the Buffaloes, it's now too close to call. FPI also gives the Buffs a 60 percent chance to win the Pac-12 South. Week 8 top games (Insider)

Steele: Cardinal have edge over Colorado

Stanford, despite its struggles, remains a favorite against Colorado though the popular pick will be the Buffaloes (+1.5). Phil Steele, however, has some very good reasons to take the Cardinal. Best Bets (Insider)

What a difference a year -- and significant on-field improvement -- has made for Colorado recruiting. After signing six four-star prospects in the past five classes combined, the Buffaloes already have six in the 2017 class with the commitments from center Xavier Newman and wide receiver K.D. Nixon earlier this week. The pledges also give the Buffs commitments from eight Texas prospects. After finishing with the lowest-ranked Pac-12 class three of the past four years, Colorado could have an opportunity to finish in the top half of the conference this year.

Colorado has picked up 81 more first downs than Stanford in just about one half of a season. The Buffs lead the Pac-12 in that category while the Cardinal are dead last.
