Biggest takeaway from spring ball: Broncos improved their depth

Eight projected starters were either limited or were out entirely during spring practices. However, it worked to the benefit of several younger players who were able to get more reps than they would have otherwise.

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said that Jeremy McNichols had shoulder surgery right after the combine to repair a torn labrum. He believes he'll be ready for training camp.

I asked Jeremy McNichols what it was like getting that phone call from the Bucs. "I feel like the world got off my shoulders, honestly. These last four or five months have been really stressful for me. Just getting the call, it's like all my hard work and everything going into this is done now. But it's not finished. It's just a new beginning."

The Bills select Boise State LB Tanner Vallejo with their final pick, No. 195. Like LB Matt Milano in the fifth round, Vallejo will likely contribute on special teams while also competing for a role on defense. The 6-foot-1, 228 pound linebacker was an all-Mountain West honorable mention last season.

Jeremy McNichols on Dirk Koetter: "It was just really comforting knowing that he coached at Boise State and had some of our coaches as players." Also said he played receiver three years in high school and for one year in college, so he's very comfortable there.

With their fifth-round pick (No. 162), the Bucs select Boise State running back Jeremy McNichols. Yes, you heard right. Another Boise State running back, but he's versatile and can bring a lot to the receiving game and as a kick returner.

Grading the best of the rest

Notre Dame took the sting off a subpar season by winning big on national signing day, but the Irish weren't the only team from outside of the Power 5 conferences to score on the recruiting trail.

Broncos' season ended with a thud

The loss at Air Force was tough enough to swallow. Boise State was then dominated by a Baylor team that had every reason to mail in its Cactus Bowl performance. Bryan Harsin takes no momentum into the 2017 season. Coaches' stock (Insider)
