ESPN Stats and Information

Ohio State at Indiana is the third-best matchup of Week 1, according to FPI. Ohio State has won 22 consecutive games against Indiana, dating back to 1990 when the teams tied. The Hoosiers have come close to knocking off the Buckeyes in their last two meetings in Indiana, but both of those came under coach Kevin Wilson, who resigned after six seasons in Bloomington and is now the offensive coordinator for Ohio State.

Ohio State's season-opening trip to Indiana ranks No. 3 on the list of best games of the opening weekend this fall, according to FPI. The Hoosiers have lost 22 consecutive times in the series, but they have given the Buckeyes some competitive games recently in Bloomington -- with the combined margin of victory in the last two meetings there only 10 points. FPI has Ohio State as a 90-percent favorite, and Urban Meyer's team is one of only four in the nation the metric favors in every game on the schedule.

Tom Crean's firing as IU head basketball coach comes six days after ex-football coach Kevin Wilson acknowledged that he, too, had been let go by the Hoosiers, despite AD Fred Glass labeling Wilson's Dec. 1 departure a resignation due to philosophical differences. Wilson, now Ohio State's offensive coordinator, is reportedly receiving about a fifth of the more than $2m left on his multiyear contract.

New OSU offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson addresses the media for the first time since leaving the head coaching job at Indiana. He says he wouldn't have been hired by the Buckeyes if accusations by some former Hoosiers of mistreatment were true.

Indiana once again has a full coaching staff, with Tom Allen welcoming former Michigan running back Mike Hart to the program to coach that position for the Hoosiers. Hart, the all-time leading rusher for the Wolverines, has been a rising star in the coaching profession as an assistant over the last few years with stops at Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and a stint last season with Syracuse.
