ESPN 25 Power Rankings: Week: 14

After games of Feb. 24

Postseason tourneys often lead to upsets of ranked teams, and that has held true the past two weeks. After Simeon fell in the CPS semifinals last week, a pair of top-15 squads succumbed to early defeats recently, dropping them in our latest poll.

Gonzaga (D.C.) stumbled in the WCAC tourney, falling to a Bishop Ireton team it beat twice en route to an unbeaten regular season conference mark, while red-hot La Verne Lutheran ended Bishop Montgomery's perfect season in the Division 1AA tourney out in California.

Most of the time a team will fall out of the top 25 following a playoff loss, but in both cases the season rolls on with Gonzaga set to play in the Alhambra Invitational in Mid-March and BM awaiting to see if it gets an invite to the Open Division tourney or stays in D-IV. That factor, coupled with the two schools' overall body of work, keeps them in the top 25 (for now).

Huntington Prep is in jeopardy of falling out of the top 10 for the first time this season after suffering its third loss of the winter. The team dodged a bullet as a scheduled matchup with No. 2 Montverde Academy was cancelled.

Should any of the ranked squads falter with a season-ending hiccup, look for Montrose Christian, Olympic, Indy Cathedral and a host of undefeated squads to replace them in the top 25.

Note: This poll is compiled weekly by the RecruitingNation staff. Every high school team is eligible to be ranked as long as its roster does not include any fifth-year seniors.
