ESPN 25 Power Rankings: Week: 3

After games of Dec. 9

These early season tourneys have a way of wreaking havoc on power rankings. Over the weekend, top-10 squads Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and Fort Bend (Texas) Travis each succumbed to defeat during tourney play, knocking the teams down a few pegs in our latest rankings.

Not much changed within the top five but Huntington Prep (Huntington, W. Va.) dropped a spot after close calls against Princeton Day and Riverdale Baptist, while Findlay Prep has been a dominant 12-0. The schedule gets tougher for the Pilots so we'll get a better gauge on how good they are in the coming weeks.

Lone Peak is among the nation's hottest squads and is a legit threat to break into the top five. The squad features the offensive triple threat of Nick Emery, Eric Mika and T.J. Haws, who will all play at BYU next year. Also, keep an eye out for Rainier Beach as it gets into its out-of-state schedule. A good showing against national competition and the Vikings could make a big jump to start the new year.

Newcomers to the top 25 include undefeated squads St. John's Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), West Charlotte (Charlotte, N.C.), Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif) and Georgia power Tift County.

Now that the season is under way in most states, we're asking you to hit us up with feedback on the weekly rankings in the comments below or on Twitter using #ESPN25hoops.

Note: This poll is compiled weekly by the RecruitingNation staff. Every high school team is eligible to be ranked as long as its roster does not include any fifth-year seniors.
