ESPN 25 Power Rankings: Week: 9

After games of Jan. 21

We figured the Hoophall Classic and the various other hoop tourneys over the holiday weekend would lead to some changes in the power rankings, but little did we know it would wreak havoc throughout the top 10 as well as the bottom half of the top 25.

Here's the mayhem: We have a new No. 1 team as second-ranked Findlay Prep upset Montverde at the buzzer Monday afternoon, four of the top five teams are sitting in a new spot this week, two new teams slide into the top 10 and four new squads enter the rankings at the back end.

With the bulk of the national schedule in the book and with teams now shifting their focus to in-state and conference competition, we weighed strength of schedule stronger than overall records, leading to some jumps within the top 15. The race for the mythical national championship is really heating up for the teams near the top.

Note: This poll is compiled weekly by the RecruitingNation staff. Every high school team is eligible to be ranked as long as its roster does not include any fifth-year seniors.
