espnW 25 Power Rankings: Week 9


Something's gotta give. Right?

For the sixth consecutive week, the top seven teams in the espnW 25 Power Rankings remain glued in place. But now that many of the nation's elite teams are starting playoffs and others are winding down their regular seasons, danger is always just a dribble away.

For now, though, welcome to La Vega, the third team from Texas in this week's rankings. The No. 24-ranked team is led by Louisville signee Erin DeGrate and junior Calveion Landrum. Also joining this week's rankings is Northside (Fort Smith, Arkansas), which has been on the bubble since Week 1.

1Mater Dei (24-1)
Santa Ana, CA

Last Week: 1
The Monarchs welcomed Katie Lou Samuelson, who had been nursing a knee injury, back to the lineup with three wins. Samuelson, of course, had a little something to do with that. The Connecticut recruit and No. 1 senior prospect in the nation had 101 points in the three wins. Mater Dei closes out its regular season on Wednesday at Rosary (Fullerton, California).

2Neumann-Goretti (21-0)
Philadelphia, PA

Last Week: 2
Still perfect! Neumann-Goretti added three wins this past week. Towson recruit Sianni Martin scored her 1,000th point and Georgia Tech recruit Ciani Cryor and undeclared junior Felicia Aiyeton continued to put up big, big numbers.

3Blackman (23-2)
Murfreesboro, TN

Last Week: 3
Blackman added two wins to its record this past week, beating La Vergne (Tennessee) and Stewarts Creek (Smyrna, Tennessee), 68-44. Georgia State recruit K.K. Williams averaged 16 points in the two wins. The Lady Blaze begin district play on Feb. 13.

4St. Mary's (22-1)
Stockton, CA

Last Week: 4
The Rams outscored two opponents 2014-26 this past week, continuing their tear since falling ot No. 3 Blackman at the Nike Tournament of Champions in December. St. Mary's has three games scheduled for this week, including a Valentine's Day clash with dangerous Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, California).

5Hopkins (20-1)
Minnetonka, MN

Last Week: 5
Iowa State signee T'Aire Starks and undeclared junior Nia Hollie powered Hopkins to three wins this past week.

6Eastview (19-1)
Apple Valley, MN

Last Week: 6
Rachel Ranke, Samantha Trammel and Madison Guebert did the damage as Eastview added two wins.

7Bedford North Lawrence (22-0)
Bedford, IN

Last Week: 7
The senior trio of Dominique McBryde (Purdue), Jenna Allen (Michigan State) and Alexa Bailey (Butler) have combined for a 100-4 record during their varsity careers. Bedford North Lawrence has won 36 straight games.

8Whitney Young (24-1)
Chicago, IL

Last Week: 8
Elite junior Kiara Lewis scored 30 points and Whitney Young won its seventh straight Chicago city championship by beating Morgan Park 70-54, one of the Dolphins' two wins this past week. Regional play begins next week.

9Paul VI (24-2)
Fairfax, VA

Last Week: 9
Paul VI beat St. Mary's-Ryken (Leonardtown, Maryland) 59-46 and Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Virginia) 66-58 this past week. Jasmine Whitney had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 6 assists vs. St. Mary's-Ryken. NC State signee Jonquanae Cole had a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds vs. Bishop O'Connell.

10Country Day School (26-2)
Miami, FL

Last Week: 10
Stony Brook signee Ogechi Anyagaligbo (12 points and 10 rebounds) and Channise Lewis (11 points and 14 assists) each had a double-double in Country Day's regional quarterfinal win over Marathon (Florida).

11Long Beach Polytechnic (22-2)
Long Beach, CA

Last Week: 11
Pittsburgh signee Tania Lamb and sophomore Danae Miller put up big numbers in wins over Cabrillo (Long Beach, California) and Compton (California). Poly is 11-0 in league play and celebrates senior night against Lakewood (California) on Thursday.

12Elizabethtown (25-2)
Elizabethtown, KY

Last Week: 12
Elizabethtown rolled up an easy win this past week with Notre Dame recruit Erin Boley and sophomore Jada Stinson leading the way.

13Gonzaga Prep School (20-0)
Spokane, WA

Last Week: 13
Gonzaga Prep hit the 20-0 mark with two routine wins this past week. Senior Oona Harrington, who has signed with Carroll College in Montana, averaged 14.5 points for the week. Harrington, Otiona Gildon, Laura Stockton a Co. take their perfect record into district play, which opens on Friday.

14Columbus North (22-1)
Columbus, IN

Last Week: 15
Columbus North posted a win over Hauser (Indiana) in a game scheduled to benefit the #JoshStrong fund for Josh Speidel, a star on the boys team at Columbus North who was seriously injured in a car accident on Feb. 1. The girls met at halfcourt after the game and joined hands in a moment of silence for Speidel. Columbus North opens sectional play on Friday.

15Myers Park (21-1)
Charlotte, NC

Last Week: 16
Led by USC signee Aliyah Mazyck and NC State signee Rydeiah Rogers, Myers Park tacked on two wins this past week. Myers Park is undefeated in conference games over the past three years.

16Heritage Christian (22-2)
Indianapolis, IN

Last Week: 17
Heritage Christian beat Noblesville (Indiana) 66-52 its final regular-season game. Undeclared junior Tyasha Harris had 26 points in the win.

17Lawrence North (22-1)
Indianapolis, IN

Last Week: 18
Purdue recruits Lamina Cooper and Ae'Rianna Harris starred in Lawrence North's two wins this past week. Lawrence North opens sectionals on Friday.

18Cypress Woods (27-1)
Cypress, TX

Last Week: 19
Cypress Woods, which is 12-0 in district play, added two wins this past week.

19Parkview (20-3)
Lilburn, GA

Last Week: 21
Rutgers signee Victoria Harris averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds in two wins this past week. Parkview opens regionals on Tuesday.

20Lakota West (19-2)
West Chester, OH

Last Week: 22
Lakota West posted three wins this past week by a combined score of 202-71 and got the No. 1 seed in the Southwest Ohio state tournament draw. Freshman Abby Prohaska and Dayton signee Lauren Cannatelli had big games for the Firebirds, who close their regular season on Wednesday.

21New Hope Christian Academy (25-2)
Thomasville, NC

Last Week: 23
Unsigned senior Anemone Scheel starred in New Hope Christian's win this past week.

22Vista Ridge (30-2)
Cedar Park, TX

Last Week: 25
Vista Ridge posted two wins this past week to extend its winning streak to 10. Included in Vista Ridge's stellar 30-2 record is a 13-0 mark in district play.

23Dillard (25-1)
Fort Lauderdale, FL

Last Week: 24
Dillard rolled to an easy win in the 5A regional quarterfinals. Next up is a game against American Heritage (Plantation, Florida) on Tuesday.

24La Vega (29-2)

With Erin DeGrate and junior Calveion Landrum leading the way, La Vega cruised to two easy wins this past week.
