Vern's home run gets TCU level with Texas, 4-4

June, 6, 2009
AUSTIN, Texas -- TCU battled back to forge a 4-4 tie on Matt Vern's team-leading 16th homer of the season after 5 1/2 innings.

It was the third homer that the Horned Frogs have hit against Texas tonight after earlier solo shots by Taylor Featherston in the first inning and Matt Carpenter in the fourth inning.

Texas starter Chance Ruffin has been effective tonight except for his troubles with gopher balls. He's already allowed more home runs than any previous start this season after allowing nine homers in 106 2/3 innings coming into the game.

It's the most homers that Texas has allowed in a game this season, matching a total that was recorded three previous times.
