Ewing's two-run HR ties game at 2-2

June, 14, 2009
Cole Green wasn't spectacular through four innings, but he was steady enough to preserve the Longhorns' 2-0 lead over Southern Miss.

That changed in the top half of the fifth inning.

After Joey Archer drew a leadoff walk, Michael Ewing delivered his second hit of the game, clearing the fences in deep center field to tie the game at 2-2.

It could have been worse for Green and the Longhorns however, had shortstop Brandon Loy not turned in the defensive play of this College World Series. With B.A. Vollmuth on second, Loy went full extension to rob Taylor Walker of a base hit as well as holding Vollmuth at third base.

Green got out of the inning after retiring Bo Davis, but the damage was done, as Ewing tied the score with one swing of the bat.
