Texas leads 4-2 after seven innings

June, 14, 2009
Texas used the long ball to regain its lead against Southern Miss, as Russell Moldenhauer's solo home run in the sixth inning pushed the Longhorns back on top, 3-2 lead.

In the seventh inning, in order to add some insurance, Texas went back to basics.

Brandon Loy's leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh sparked some classic Augie Garrido-style small ball that doubled the Longhorns' advantage over Southern Miss to 4-2.

Loy advanced to second on Cameron Rupp's sacrifice bunt. After Todd McInnis struck out Preston Clark, Connor Rowe popped a single into shallow left field to score Loy.

Rowe's hit spelled the end of the evening for McInnis, as right-hander Scott Copeland heads to the mound to keep Southern Miss within firing distance.
