When it comes to recruiting rankings in the Pac-12, the pecking order has been fairly set. Since 2006, USC has signed the conference's top class in all but two years. Not surprisingly, fellow recruiting powers Stanford and UCLA took the top spots in 2012 and 2013, respectively, and those programs pulled in the conference's top three classes this past February.

The Huskies will have plenty of holes to fill for the 2015 season, as Washington loses a number of starters along the offensive line, as well as all-conference standouts along the defensive line and at linebacker.

At the halfway point of college football's regular season, there is still plenty to be decided both on the field and on the recruiting trail. The Pac-12 placed six programs among the top 40 recruiting classes in Wednesday's updated class rankings and conference recruiting classes contain as many as 24 -- Arizona -- and as few as nine -- Stanford -- verbal commitments.

While one recruit will never truly make or break a recruiting class, some come closer than others. Every Pac-12 program has a must-get recruit in mind, whether it's a national standout whose commitment would rock the recruiting landscape, a star at a position where that program simply cannot miss, or a local prospect who can't be allowed to leave the area.

There should be a big of intrigue on the recruiting trail during this cycle when it comes to the Oregon-Washington rivalry. Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich heads into his second year as the leader at Oregon, while Washington counters with almost a completely new staff, headed by Chris Petersen.

The USC Trojans appear to have their quarterback of the future -- perhaps even two if they sign both Ricky Town and longtime commit David Sills -- but who will protect them? Coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff hauled in a stellar 2014 offensive line group in February, led by highly-rated guards Damien Mama, Viane Talamaivao and mid-year enrollee Toa Lobendahn.

With seven of the nine ESPN 300 prospects USC signed in the 2014 class being offensive players, the Trojans addressed some pressing needs on that side of the ball. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has already landed a major building block for 2015, and with 25 scholarships to hand out, he has some room to get creative in this recruiting cycle.
