Rogers resigns as Xavier athletic director

CINCINNATI -- The first woman athletic director at Xavier
University resigned Monday.

Dawn Rogers had directed the athletic program for the last two
years. Her biggest decision was hiring Sean Miller as men's
basketball coach after Thad Matta left for Ohio State.

Xavier failed to make the NCAA Tournament in Miller's first
season. The Musketeers won the Atlantic 10 tournament this year,
then lost to Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA tourney.

The school has not set a timetable for replacing Rogers, who
worked at the University of Akron before becoming associate
athletics director at Xavier in 1998. The 41-year-old Rogers said
she was leaving to pursue other opportunities.
