Jayru Campbell gets 60 days in jail

Michigan State football commit Jayru Campbell was sentenced Friday to 60 days in jail and 15 months community service for aggravated assault after body slamming a school security guard in January.

Campbell will also have to complete anger-management classes and serve 75 hours of community service.

Campbell, a three-star athlete who helped lead Detroit Cass Tech to state championships in 2011 and 2012, took a plea deal that dropped a felony charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. According to the terms of his deal, he will have the opportunity to have all of the charges removed from his record if he fulfills his obligations under the court.

It is unknown whether Michigan State will continue to honor Campbell's commitment as NCAA rules prohibit college coaches from speaking about unsigned commitments.
