GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota hockey forward Bryn Chyzyk has been suspended from the team indefinitely after allegedly running out on a cab fare estimated at $4.
Coach Dave Hakstol announced the suspension Monday, the same day Chyzyk pleaded not guilty to a theft charge in Grand Forks Municipal Court. Hakstol says he won't consider reinstating Chyzyk until at least January.
The Grand Forks Herald reports Chyzyk was arrested shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday at a convenience store. He faces a trial before a city judge on Feb. 19.
Chyzyk is a sophomore forward from Virden, Manitoba, in Canada. He has two goals and two assists this season.
Chyzyk has been cited twice for alcohol violations while at UND. A telephone listing for him could not immediately be found.
