CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati has hired former Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn to take over a program hoping to move into a more high-profile conference.
Bohn replaces Whit Babcock, who took the job at Virginia Tech on Jan. 24.
Bohn resigned at Colorado last May after running the athletic program for eight years. The school wanted to go in a different direction and hired former Texas Rangers executive Rick George.
The Bearcats have successful football and basketball programs, but got left behind when the Big East broke up. They would like to move up from the American Athletic Conference to one of the top leagues eventually.
The hiring was announced Thursday before No. 7 Cincinnati hosted No. 22 Connecticut in an AAC game.
