Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.
That seems to be the message from Matt Rhule as he departs the city of Philadelphia and Temple University, where he guided the Owls to 10 wins and an American Athletic Conference championship this season.
On Tuesday, the 41-year-old head coach signed a seven-year deal to become Baylor University's new coach. But before he officially departs for Waco, Texas, Rhule took out a full-page ad in Wednesday's Philadelphia Inquirer to say thank you to the city and the school where he took over as head coach in 2013.
Rhule inherits a Baylor team that went 6-6 under Jim Grobe this past season and will play Boise State in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl on Dec. 27. In four seasons at Temple, Rhule finished with a 28-23 record.
