Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley said QB Kyler Murray got several snaps against Kansas State, largely because Baker Mayfield was still ailing from a shoulder injury from the week before. Mayfield didn't practice all week. "He had a tough time," said Riley, who added Mayfield is doing better today.

Recruiting Insiders: Week 8 news

Notre Dame and Miami had the biggest weekends. The Irish routed USC in front of a number of top targets while the Hurricanes bolstered their class with a new commitment.

Oklahoma barely has the edge in a very tight Big 12 race.

After routing USC last night, Notre Dame received a 2.7-point upgrade to its FPI rating and moved up three spots in the FPI rankings to No. 5. No new teams entered the top 10, and the order of the top four teams did not change.

Oklahoma now has 14-straight road wins. That's the program's longest road winning streak since 1973-76, which included a pair of national titles.

Mayfield, Anderson lead No. 9 Sooners past K-State, 42-35

Rodney Anderson ran 22 yards for the go-ahead score with 7 seconds remaining, Baker Mayfield threw for 410 yards and accounted for four touchdowns and No. 9 Oklahoma rallied for a wild 42-35 victory over Kansas State on Saturday night.

In the darkness outside of Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Oklahoma lives to see another day in the College Football Playoff race after rallying for a 42-35 win at Kansas State. Rodney Anderson's 22-yard TD run won it with seven seconds left.

In the spring, I asked Baker Mayfield who would be OU's breakout player this season. His answer: "Rodney Anderson." Anderson just broke out at K-State with 147 rushing yards and the game-winning 22-yard TD scamper around the edge that gave the Sooners a 42-35 win.

Back and forth we go. Kansas State ties it at 35 on an Alex Delton-to-Isaiah Zuber throw. Baker Mayfield is going to get it back with a chance to win.

Back in business. Kansas State's Colby Moore recovers an errant snap on an Oklahoma punt. Wildcats are in the red zone, down 28-21.

Oklahoma takes the lead on Baker Mayfield's second rushing touchdown. A two-point conversion throw to Dimitri Flowers puts the Sooners up 28-21 on Kansas State in what has become a dominant second-half performance.

Oklahoma receiver Mykel Jones to the sideline with an injury after his 31-yard catch from Baker Mayfield on the second play of the third quarter.

How deep into in Lincoln Riley's head has Bill Snyder climbed? After a Jordan Thomas pick set up Oklahoma with a first and goal, backup QB Kyler Murray entered. The Sooners then went to fullback Dimitri Flowers as a Wildcat QB and had to take a timeout to avoid disaster. Baker Mayfield returned, and Flowers was stuffed for a loss by Kansas State before OU settled for a field goal. It trails 21-10.

Mitch Sherman ESPN Staff Writer

Nothing going for Oklahoma as Dimitri Flowers comes up short on fourth and 1 from the K-State 19. After going for broke and failing, the Sooners are toying with a big deficit as the minutes tick away in the first half.

Through one quarter in Manhattan, 338 yards of offense, including 202 from Kansas State. Oklahoma has not stopped the Wildcats on three possessions, save for a turnover generated. The Sooners have no answer yet for Alex Delton, who's 5 for 6 throwing and has run for 48 yards and a TD.

Baker Mayfield has been pretty good the last few years. This is his 33rd straight game with a pass TD, the longest active streak in the FBS; longest streak by a Power 5 QB since Marcus Mariota threw a TD in 41 straight games from 2012-14
