Westbrook on Murray scuffle: 'He was in my way'

Thunder star Russell Westbrook and the Nuggets' Jamal Murray were both assessed technical fouls after some light pushing and plenty of jawing late in Friday night's game.

Two issues hurting OKC against the Nuggets, one old, one new: free throws and defensive rebounding. The Thunder's free throw woes have been strange all season, but the rebounding is something that's popped up the last few games as OKC's tried out some smaller lineups with Paul George at the 4.

The Thunder have made it a bit of a habit to feed Steven Adams early in games lately. He dropped 17 in the first quarter against the Nuggets, basically just abusing Nikola Jokic in the paint. Question is: How long will the Thunder keep going to Adams?

OKC has an MVP candidate, and it isn't Westbrook

Paul George has added some fourth-quarter heroics to his MVP-level two-way repertoire. More important, he's earned the full trust of the Thunder's fearless leader.

Today Steven Adams learned Nikola Jokic's first name.

The Thunder had a chance to win or tie, and ran a pretty good set with a two-man game between Russell Westbrook and Paul George. Westbrook got downhill and drew up, kicked to an open Alex Abrines for 3 who misses a go-ahead 3 as the Pelicans hang on to beat OKC.

Anthony Davis is just too much for OKC's bigs to handle. Steven Adams has the size, but not the quickness. Jerami Grant is athletic, but not big enough. And Patrick Patterson is, well.

Russell Westbrook has done a very good job fighting the urge to force it. It looks like he's still trying to find some rhythm, but he's making really sharp reads and very nice passes.
