By releasing ILB Brian Cushing the Texans will save $7.64 million of cap space as he did not have any guaranteed money left on his contract. During Cushing's 10-game suspension in 2017, the trio of ILBs Benardrick McKinney, Zach Cunningham and Dylan Cole played well enough that the Texans felt comfortable releasing the veteran. With his release Houston will have more than $64 million available under the salary cap.
