WR/KR Kaelin Clay (ankle) didn't travel with the team to Houston. He was downgraded to out. Don't be surprised to see Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard on some punt returns. Cody Latimer will continue to handle kickoffs.

John Mara at Tom Coughlin's Jay Fund event says it's a long season. Not much he can say, they're 0-2 and have to do better. Mara on Eli Manning being under fire, "What else is new?"

Barnwell Show: Doug Kyed on the Pats & Alan Sepinwall on the Giants

Bill talks to Doug Kyed of NESN about the Patriots trying to integrate Josh Gordon to the offense and the defense getting off to a slow start (1:12). Plus, Giants fan Alan Sepinwall of Rolling Stone joins to discuss whether or not it is time to panic in NYC and if he's jealous of the Jets for taking Darnold (26:53).

James Bettcher used Patrick Peterson to shadow top receivers in Arizona. Expecting the same here with Janoris Jenkins and the Giants. Jenkins will likely follow Texans star WR DeAndre Hopkins. That would leave BW Webb on Will Fuller on the other side with Eli Apple (groin) likely out.

OLB Olivier Vernon (ankle) still not practicing. CB Eli Apple (groin) also didn't practice and is still sore. Not overly encouraging news for the Giants defense entering a must-win game vs. Texans.

Giants lose starter Halapio to broken ankle, leg

The New York Giants have lost starting center Jon Halapio for the season after he fractured his right ankle and leg Sunday in a loss to the Cowboys. Halapio's injury occurred in the third quarter when a pile of players fell on the back of his leg.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Giants starting center Jon Halapio broke his ankle and is out for the season, per sources. Bad luck. He had worked so hard to not only stick on a roster but become a starter. Was playing well. His loss another blow towards creating continuity on the Giants offensive line.
