No specifics yet on the Bucs injuries to Donovan Smith and Justin Evans, but I am told that the team is optimistic right now that neither of those injuries are serious or long-term.

It may only be preseason, but the Bucs are averaging 28 points a game right now, fourth-most in the league and higher than any other Bucs' preseason in at least 20 years. Last preseason, they averaged 10.8 points per game, dead-last in the league. Their red zone percentage has also gone from 33.3 percent last preseason to 55.5 percent, and they're leading the league with 345.5 passing yards per game. Perhaps the Bucs start to see some real returns on all those offensive weapons they've been gathering.

Some injury updates: Bucs rookie defensive tackle Vita Vea, who suffered a strained calf at the beginning of camp, is now running and moving well. He should be ready soon. Also, Vernon Hargreaves returned to practice today after suffering a groin injury two weeks ago. He was getting first-team reps at nickelback with Carlton Davis on the outside. Davis told me his ankle is feeling much better.

The Bucs spent an hour after practice hanging with athletes from Special Olympics Florida. Here's Jameis Winston with his new buddy Jay'Kwan, whose smile you could spot from 50 yards away.

Looks to be Donovan Smith's right knee. Keep in mind, in three years, Smith has never missed a game. Safety Justin Evans also left practice early due to an undisclosed injury.

Bucs starting left tackle Donovan Smith just got rolled up on in practice, is in some real pain and is visibly upset. Play stopped as trainers tended to him. He was able to walk off the field but limping and with a lot of assistance.

The Bucs have signed defensive tackle Jerel Worthy and have waived (injured) linebacker Shaheed Salmon. Depth has been an issue for the Bucs at defensive tackle, with Vita Vea still nursing a calf injury and Stevie T'uikolovatu being waived (injured). Mitch Unrein has also been out.

Injury updates: Bucs running back Charles Sims, who left Saturday's second preseason game with a knee injury, was not practicing Monday but was in a brace on the sideline and was walking on it. Carlton Davis, who missed the game with an ankle injury, did practice. Jordan Whitehead (shoulder) and M.J. Stewart (foot) both participated in practice but had on black non-contact jerseys.

Vernon Hargreaves, who has missed the first two preseason games with a groin injury, was backpedaling and jogging on the practice field today. He wasn't going full-speed, but this is progress.

Jason Pierre-Paul spends some time with Vinny Curry after practice after Curry sought his help. JPP's drawn a lot of praise not only for his play, but for his leadership off the field. He's frequently on the sidelines in between reps helping out Noah Spence, Will Gholston and Will Clarke. JPP told me, "I said from the moment that I got here that I'll lead by example and that's just me period."

The Bucs have been awarded defensive tackle Adam Reth off of waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles. Defensive tackle Drew Iddings has also been waived (injured).

In a recent conversation with a supervisor of officiating, Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter was told regarding the new rules, "You'll know it when you see it." That hasn't been the case though. "I don't think that's how they're calling it at all," Koetter said, adding that "it's gonna take some time for everybody to get it right."

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter said Jameis Winston played "lights out" against the Titans. "That second quarter, Jameis was on fire." He also said Ryan Fitzpatrick was "not as sharp as he was in Miami but he's been very consistent throughout training camp."

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston said he knew there was a flag on the touchdown throw to Chris Godwin so that enabled him to take a chance on that throw to him, even though he was off-balance and being brought to the ground. But he added, "In film, I'm probably going to get yelled at, but at the end of the day, I've got to learn from those."

I'm told that the preliminary diagnosis for cornerback M.J. Stewart is a bone bruise on his heel. So he should be fine.

The Bucs' red-zone efficiency has jumped from 33.3 percent in the first two preseason games last year to 55.5 percent this year. Through two preseason games, they've also managed to outscore their four-game output from last year, 56 to 43. Nice feather in the cap of offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Dirk Koetter has always called plays but is having Monken do so this preseason. The plan is for Koetter to call plays during the season though.

Bucs player of the game for me: rookie cornerback MJ Stewart, who had two forced fumbles. He left the game with a foot injury and did not return, but his impact was certainly felt — his second turnover gave the Bucs a chance to run their two-minute offense before the half, which Jameis Winston did successfully with a 10-play, 72-yard drive.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

No touchdowns for the Bucs' offense with Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first quarter against the Titans, but Jameis Winston did just about everything you could ask for in the second, throwing for 226 yards and connecting with Chris Godwin and Justin Watson for touchdowns. His throw to Godwin, where he escaped pressure and threw completely off-balance, was one of those plays only Winston could make. He also found DeSean Jackson on a 54-yard pass downfield -- something that was missing last year and both vowed to correct heading into 2018. We've seen that a few times during camp. This is shaping up to be a very strong camp for No. 3, even as he's had to give up a lot of first-team reps.

Several Bucs players not dressing against the Titans: Josh Robinson, Vernon Hargreaves, Carlton Davis, Vita Vea, Kendell Beckwith, Shaheed Salmon, Devante Bond, Leonard Wester, Cole Boozer, Cole Gardner, Bobo Wilson and Mitch Unrein.
