Beltran finally breaks his slump

Carlos Beltran ended a career-long 32-AB hitless streak with a first-inning single on Saturday. It was the longest such streak for a player with at least 2,500 hits to his credit (Beltran had 2,580 when it started) since Cal Ripken, with 3,182 hits, went hitless in 33 at-bats during a stretch in 2001, per the Elias Sports Bureau.
