Texas in an early-season bind

After starting the season 3-0, Texas has lost three of its past four games. The Longhorns are shooting poorly from 3-point range, and need to pick it up if they want to be in contention for an NCAA tournament bid, writes Myron Medcalf. Must-see teams

Matt Rhule has been diverse in his career: offense and defense, college and NFL, different spots around the country. A few weeks ago, I was told how much a certain Pac-12 job could interest him despite his northeast roots. This is another new territory for Rhule, but he's used to it.

D'Onta Foreman deserves your vote

He didn't receive a Heisman invite, but he led the nation with 2,028 rushing yards. It's only the sixth time in 81 years that a running back hasn't finished in the top five of Heisman voting. But you can vote for him as our offensive player of the year. Vote now!

Having a clinched a playoff spot with four games to go Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones does not see his team resting players down the stretch. "I see us more business as usual," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. "What it does allow you to do is when you've got guys on the fence with injury to not push them ... You don't want to take the edge off."

Dwight Powell has had his highest-scoring outings of the season in the Mavs' last two games: 17 in a win over the Bulls and 15 in a loss to the Hornets, going 7-of-11 from the floor both nights. Powell has had some spectacular lob finishes, benefiting from guards Deron Williams and Devin Harris returning from injuries. Powell will get plenty of opportunity as Andrew Bogut recovers from his knee injury.

Rick Carlisle: Mavs getting outrebounded by 20 by Hornets "shouldn't happen. That points to effort, which I don't like to say about this team, but I've got to look at it. We'll see. That's not good." It didn't help that Andrew Bogut (6 rebounds in 11 minutes) got hurt late in the first quarter.
