Teen carries collapsed marathoner to victory

High school student Ariana Luterman was finishing the anchor leg of a girls' relay in Sunday's Dallas Marathon when she saw the women's marathon leader, Chandler Self, start to collapse from exhaustion. Luterman helped Self cross the finish line.

Brandon Kintzler, who saved 29 games for the Twins this year before going to Washington at the trade deadline and pitching in a setup role, is attracting a crowd on the free agent market. The Cubs, Twins, Diamondbacks, Nationals and Rangers are among the teams with interest. If the Cubs sign Kintzler on top of the Brandon Morrow deal, it will mean they've officially moved on from Wade Davis.

TCU has named Jeremiah Donati athletic director. Donati, previously TCU's deputy athletics director, replaced Chris Del Conte, who was announced as athletic director at Texas over the weekend.

New Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte, at his introduction on Monday, said he got a phone call from TCU coach Gary Patterson, who he worked with the last eight years. Del Conte joked Patterson told him "I love you, but I hate you today." Del Conte said "I love it."

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was asked Monday morning if he has spoken with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and if they are "okay." Goodell's reponse, via CNBC: "Yes. Oh sure." Jones has been attempting to scuttle or at least delay Goodell's recent contract extension. The two will participate in an owners meeting this week in Texas.
