Rangers activate SS Andrus, option Trevino

The Texas Rangers activated shortstop Elvis Andrus from the disabled list on Monday after he missed the past 59 games with a fractured right elbow. The team also optioned catcher Jose Trevino to Double-A Frisco.

NCAA, wife of ex-Horns DT settle CTE lawsuit

An undisclosed settlement has been reached in the case brought against the NCAA by the wife of a former Longhorns player from their 1969 team in which she claimed negligence and wrongful death stemming from the former defensive tackle's brain injuries.

For the second straight season, David Irving will miss the first four games because of a suspension. The NFL announced a four-game suspension for violating the substance abuse policy. He missed four games in 2017 for violating the performance-enhancing drug policy. He will be able to take part in training camp and preseason games. Once the regular season starts, he will be able to continue to work out at The Star but not take part in meetings and practice.
